For our Wedding take a look at Wedding Bells
We had an interview with the Yorkshire Post, a local newspaper, about how we met. Adam and I met at an Introductory Agency and the the local press where doing an article on such agencies so we caused a bit of a stir when they found out from the Introductory Agency where we met that we were getting married! After the interview which we were a bit nervous about we set off to Manchester Airport so that we could stay overnight at the Radisson Hotel. The hotel was inside the airport so it was great to be able to check in for our flight and then walk back to the hotel for a leisurely breakfast.
We were up at 5.30am to meet my mum and dad at the check in. They had never flown before so it was quite daunting for them to fly all the way to Florida. Still it was for their daughter's wedding! My main worry was that my luggage would get lost on route and I would be without a wedding dress. We finally arrived in Orlando, Florida complete with luggage. It was hot and sunny. We were taken to the All Star Movies Resort at Disney. At the check in we were just about to get our room cards when Disney realised that Adam and I and my mum and dad were one group so they altered our rooms and put us next door to one another. I needn't have worried though as mum and dad got the hang of things straight away and went off exploring without us and did their own thing.
Here's Adam speeding to our hotel room...
...or is he, er hum, excuse me aren't you supposed to be marrying me!
On our first full day at Disney we headed off to my favourite place in the whole wide world - The Magic Kingdom. It was much more relaxing on our second trip to Disney because we had been to all the places before we could pick and choose our favourites and we didn't feel like we had to rush around like maniacs and see everything. We had a peak in Sleeping Beauty's castle as it had been turned into a 25th birthday cake the first time we had been, went on Splash Mountain (my favourite!), Big Thunder Mountain, Haunted House, Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger spin, Space Mountain and Pirates of the Carribean which broke down (we still can't get that silly song out of our heads!). Next we headed off to Downtown Disney and Pleasure Island.
Mickey Waffles and syrup for breakfast! Adam's mum and dad took us to the Orange County Court to get our marriage licence. It was very scarey seeing people with real guns and being searched and everything. They eventually let us in through security (after confiscating my scissors) and we got our licence plus a 'goody bag' to start us on the path to married life that included cleaning products including a toilet roll.
Next we headed back to Disney and visited 'Francs' the Disney wedding shop and met our organist. Then we were off to Epcot to see the 'Tapestry of Nations' parade and 'Illuminations' 2000 - 'Reflections of Earth' fireworks. There were thousands of people at Epcot and guess what - we ended up watching the parade just a few feet away from my parents!
We set off to Disney's Animal Kingdom which hadn't been there the last time we went to Disney. We went on the Kilimanjaro Safari, Pangani Forest Trail, Conservation Station, Tarzan Rocks, Dinosaur, Dinosaur Jubilee, Festival of the Lion King, Maharajah Jungle Trek, It's tough to be a Bug and Kali River Rapids. After a fun packed day we headed for Downtown Disney and got our wedding hats!
The day before our wedding...We checked out of the All Star Movie Resort and went to stay at Disney's Polynesian Hotel which we loved.
On the pathway outside the Polynesian we found 'our stone'. The first time we went to Disney we arranged for a stone to be made. Now we could see it for ourselves as part of the Disney walkway and it was between the Polynesian Hotel and the Wedding Chapel where we were due to get married.
While we were at the Polynesian we hired a 'Water Mouse' boat and went round the Seven Sea's Lagoon which was great fun. When we got back to our room we got a lovely surprise as we received a wedding basket present from Disney. It was shaped like Mickey Mouse Ears and contained a scented candle in a holder, trinket box, picture frame, Mickey Mouse ear shaped soaps and chocolate. Also the maid had arranged our garlands in heart shapes on the bed and our towels had been made to look like a couple kissing. It was wonderfully romantic. In the evening we watched the Seven Seas Lagoon Light Show from our balcony and then it was popcorn and a few drinks before having an early night ready for our big day.
We went to the hotel restaurant and had a character breakfast - Minnie's Menehune Character Breakfast in Ohana Feast. We met Minnie Mouse, Chip n Dale and Goofy. It was a brilliant start to our wedding day.
Next Adam went to Disney Quest (as you do on your wedding day!) and I went to my mum and dad's hotel room back at the All Star Movie Resort to get ready. I had my hair and make-up done by a Disney person and felt very pampered.
At 2.30pm the limousine arrived and I set off to the Wedding chapel with my mum and dad. Wedding Bells
After the wedding reception we went to a Polynesian Luau at the Polynesian Hotel and shared our wedding evening with hundreds of other people. On the way to the Luau I realised I had lost my garter and I knew I had to find it as Adam's mum had made it for me and it was very special. I ran through the hotel grounds and I felt just like Cinderella. It was a wonderful, magical day just as Disney had promised. I found my garter back in the hotel room and just like Cinderella, I also had my Prince
We had a lie in and some of our gorgeous wedding cake for breakfast. Then it was off to DisneyQuest, Pleasure Island, Epcot and Fantasia golf.
We went to MGM Studio's with my newly acquired sister in law Sally and her family - husband Ralph (our best man) and Rhiannon and Faye (my bridesmaids). We wore our wedding hats which was great as we were given free cake at lunch and everyone kept asking us if we were on our honeymoon and congratulating us. It felt really good to share our celebration with everyone. We went on the Tower of Terror (another one of my favourites), Rock n Roller Coaster, Disney Animation Tour and the Back Stage Tour. In the evening we went back to the Magic Kingdom for the Main Street Electrical Parade and Fireworks.
We had Tonga Toast and then checked out of the Polynesian Hotel and headed for the second part of our honeymoon on International Drive. We stayed at the same hotel as our previous visit and they guessed that we were on our honeymoon and gave us a large suite. It was a huge room and fantastic when mums and dads came to visit us. My mum and dad were staying in the Annex of the same hotel and Adam's mum and dad were just a few doors down at a different hotel.
We went to the Universal Island's of Adventure. On our last visit, there was just Universal Studio's as the Islands of Adventure were still being built. We went on the Hulk, Dr Doom's Fear fall, Spider man (another favourite), and basically all the rides except Popeye!. Oh and Adam also met another woman - Storm!
We also managed to go on both the Fire dragon and the Ice dragon and it was like being on two different rides expecially when we got to sit at the front, it was fantastic. We then went on to Pointe Orlando Shopping Mall and paid a quick visit to our favourite shop FAO Swarz to say hi to Patrick the Puppy's family (Who are the Puppies)
Adam's mum and dad took us to the Dali Museum in St Petersburg. Adam is a fan of Dali, I'm was just confused! The museum was much better than I had thought and was really interesting. We went round with a tour guide who explained each picture so I now know what Dali's pictures mean and I actually like them now (well some of them!)
We went shopping in Belz and Pointe Orlando again. This time we went to FAO Schwarz and adopted a small Patrick the Puppy to be called Patrick Junior or P.J. as he likes to be known as. (Who are the Puppies)
Our Honeymoon Pup!
In the evening we went to an Arabian Nights Dinner Show with my mum and dad. It was good fund but we got lost driving home!
We spent the whole 9 hour day at Seaworld. They had got a new ride since we went there last - Atlantis - so we went on it and got absolutely soaked to the skin and spent the rest of the day drying out. We also tried Kracken, fed rays , saw sharks, Cirque du Mer, seal and otter show, polar bears and lots, lots more. Very happy but very tired legs!
Today it was Universal Studio's where we got a wet bottom on Jaws and went on Twister, MIB, King Kong, ET, T2 and Hanna Barbarra. In the evening all the family went to TGI Fridays for our last group meal and Adam had a HUGE cocktail.
We had added an extra day to our holiday so that we weren't flying back on Adam's birthday. It was our last day so we had a leisurely day at Wet n Wild (and got sunburnt!), shopping at the Mecado Centre and then a round of Congo River Golf.
Back Home... bah humbug!
