Patrick Puppies like lots of cuddles, snoozes and naps on a soft duvet in a nice warm house. They also like to pat because that's what Patricks do. They don't like baths and going outside in the cold.
How to choose a Patrick
Before you leave the shop make sure that your Patrick is friendly and attracted to you. Does he use his cuteness to let you know that he wants to be picked up and does he enjoy being cuddled?
Buying a Patrick is a serious responsibility. Being a Patrick parent is an important and demanding task. Can you handle it?
Never try obedience training with a Patrick - besides he'll just ignore you if you do!
Patrick's like to eat chocolate, cake, pizza and basically anything that is unhealthy but tastes good! You especially have to keep a look out for Patrick's when there are any Birthday cakes lying around...
Patrick the Puppy can be found at a F.A.O. Schwarz Shop.
Our first holiday together was to Florida, USA (Very Long Walkies - Holidays) as we were both desparate to go and visit the Walt Disney Resort. We stayed at a hotel on International Drive for two weeks. On International Drive we discovered an amazing toy shop called FAO Schwarz. Outside was a huge model of a Puppy, a Ragdoll and a Soldier so being children in adult size we went inside. We were not disappointed it was a fantastic toy shop and just inside the door we became surrounded by Patrick Puppies. They were in three sizes, small, medium and large, and they were the cutest, fluffiest, cuddliest things I had ever seen. I was desperate to take them all home with me but I was worried about actually getting them back to the UK. During the two week holiday we visited FAO Schwarz several times until finally at the end of the holiday Adam persuaded me that I must take a Patrick Puppy home with me. It was such a tough choice and I wish I'd had the How to choose a Patrick'. list shown above. After much careful thought and a few cuddles we settled on a medium sized Patrick. FAO Schwarz were very helpful and were pleased to help our Patrick go to a good home in a large cardboard box. Unfortunately, Floridian buses are not equipped to take Patrick's in boxes so it was a bit of a struggle getting him back to the hotel. Hmmm, if it was difficult getting him a few miles down the road, how were we going to get him back home to the UK...
After much thought and emptying of suitcases and trying to fill one with a Patrick (only medium sized!) we gave Patrick lots of cuddles and left him home alone while we set off in search of his very own travel bag. Luckily International Drive has just about everything and we soon found one. Patrick fitted in the bag perfectly and then it was off to the Airport. Patrick didn't like it much being in a bag in the hold and still claims today that he has 'scars' from the journey. His fur has a few wrinkles on his bottom! I'm not even sure if they were caused by the flight but Patrick likes to tell his story. Despite all this he is still happy to be living with us and we wouldn't swop him for the world.
We loved our first trip to Florida so much that we said we would go back there one day. A few years later who would have thought that we would be back in Florida to get married. (Wedding Bells) During our honeymoon set off back to FAO Schwarz as we were missing Patrick dreadfully and besides which we had promised to say Hi to the rest of his Floridian Family while we were there. We walked into the shop and there we were once again surrounded by Patrick Puppies. I thought that there was only one true Patrick and he was back at home but each Patrick has a different character and it's so easy to fall in love with more than one. After cuddling a few Patricks we headed off to the sweetie part of the shop and I bought some chocolate bars to take back home. The Puppies were hard to resist though so we headed back and decided to take a small Patrick home with us. As we were carefully choosing one I suddenly remembered the chocolate I had bought but it was nowhere to be seen. We had discovered to our cost that Patrick Puppies love chocolate. See above on 'How to care for a Patrick'. We decided to call our small puppy Patrick Junior and took him back to our hotel room. Patrick Junior was much more boistrous than Patrick back home, he was quite mischievous and a little bit naughty. He decided he needed a more 'up beat street name' so we shortened Patrick Junior to P.J.
P.J. (Patrick Junior) with Patrick
After sorting out his name we decided to introduce him to my mum and dad who were in Florida for our wedding and were staying at the same hotel. Imagine our surprise when we walked in the room and saw another small Patrick the Puppy. P.J. was happy to see his Cousin Patrick and gave him a pat on the head with his big fluffy paw. We soon discovered that Cousin Patrick was much quieter and a very good and well behaved puppy so he was just right for my mum.

Cousin Patrick - the quiet one!
All too soon it was time to head home. Cousin Patrick went nice and quietly into mum's flight bag that she was able to take on the plane with her. P.J. was having none of that and insisted on being carried through the airport and on to the plane where he sat on my knee for the journey home. He was a bit cold on the train ride from the airport but he soon cheered up when we arrived home and he saw a medium sized relative waiting for him on a nice, warm duvet.
Patrick and P.J. live happily together. They pat each other occasionally and call each other names and squabble over the TV and chocolate once in a while but then Puppies will be Puppies.

We love them both to bits and wouldn't be without them. Although we didn't know how they'd react to a girl puppy in their camp. There was only one way to find out especially when we went to Las Vegas where there just happened to be an FAO Schwarz shop. They had some lovely pink puppies called Penelope the Puppy, as well as a few other puppies...

PollyIt was Christmas 2005 and we were busy opening our presents from Santa. We were opening one box when suddenly we saw a black fluffy nose peeking through. Imagine our surprise when we opened the box and found a lovely pink, fluffy FAO Schwarz puppy inside. We named her Polly.

Pippa, Nero, Cleo and Octavia joined our puppy gang on our visit to Las Vegas in 2006. Pippa is stroller sized so just a little bit smaller than a small penelope but more fluffy. Nero and Cleo are Easter Bunny Puppies and Octavia is a Birthstone Puppy. (Our Holiday in Las Vegas)
Brooklyn joined us in New York in 2006. He is a small Patrick but fluffy like Pippa. (Our Holiday in New York)
