Christmas 2003 started like any other Christmas. On Christmas Day morning we discovered Santa had left us lots of presents. One was from Sally, Ralph, Rhiannon and Faye Jones, our family in Canada. The present was squishy and we couldn't guess what it was. We opened the parcel together and there inside was a lovely, small, fluffy, pink Penelope the Puppy. We fell in love with her and called her Poppy.
Poppy had been adopted for us from FAO Schwarz in Seattle. She then travelled with the Jones' family back to their home in Canada and then she came over to the UK with them in the summer. She has been wrapped up a long time and so she was a bit wrinkly but lots of cuddles and hugs soon sorted that out.
She went with us to my mum and dad's and met Cousin Patrick and then joined the other puppies at home - Patrick, PJ, Penny, Priscilla and Elvis. We now have 3 girl puppies and 3 boys puppies!
Mummy's Birthday lasted ages...
It all started the weekend before when my Daddy took mummy to London for the weekend. We weren't involved in this part of the Birthday so over to mummy...
We arrived at Kings Cross Station early Saturday morning and made the short walk to the hotel to get rid of our bags so that we could go exploring. The deed done we headed for Harrods. First stop was the toy department where we met a 2001 Christmas bear disguised as a back pack, who decided to come home with us. We called him Schubert.
Humph, another bear - what about more puppies!
Next stop was the ice cream palour for an early lunch except that we just had a pudding. We each had an ice cream sundae. They were quite large and extremely good. We spent the morning at Harrods, stopping briefly in the food hall before having to rush back across London to the West End as Adam had got us tickets to see The Lion King show.
The Lion King was fantastic and very exciting. The costumes were brilliant and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. All too soon it was over and we made a brief stop in Covent Garden where we bought a mouse. Adam had bought one a long time ago and he had lived at the side of the sink falling out of a pipe until we moved house recently. We love him so much that we bought him a companion only this time we bought one popping out of his mouse hole.
After a brief stop at Hamley's toy shop it was back to the hotel. Our legs were aching so we were glad we had booked to have a meal at the hotel restaurant.
Sunday we were refreshed and ready to go. We were booked on the Millenium Wheel. It was well worth it. Next it was the Dali Museum, the Tate Modern (very strange), the Millenium Bridge and the Natural History Museum (scary dinosaurs). All in all it had been an exciting weekend.
Mummy never mind London what about the cake!
OK, Adam surprised me with a fantastic Birthday cake, Here's P.J.'s story...
Daddy decided to get mummy a surprise birthday cake and he needed my help. I'm such a cute puppy that daddy needed me as a model. First daddy took lots of photo's of me from different angles and then he put me in a bag and took me to the cake shop. I don't normally like going outside but seeing as it was for something special I didn't grumble too much (well maybe just a little). Everyone in the cake shop thought I was really cute, the cutest puppy ever. The cake lady used my cute looks to make mummy a birthday cake. Mummy was very, very happy with the puppy cake...
Oh and mummy got a bubble machine that daddy tried out in the kitchen, under my supervision of course.
Then of course we had to have a birthday party to show off the puppy cake.

Here's to another Birthday!
Daddy had a party the weekend before his birthday and invited both grandma's and grandad's. Us puppies helped to get ready for the party but stayed out of the way when our grandparents came. We didn't want out ears pulled or picked up by our tails by a naughty grandad!. It was a Mexican Fiesta!
Daddy shared his birthday cake with us. Yum!
Mummy surprised daddy by taking him to Blackpool for the weekend after his birthday. (He had been nagging mummy about going to the Pleasure Beach for ages and ages... )
