Aria [Handel, from Concerto Grosso No.12]

Welcome

By Pastor Jeff Shaver

Reading - Read by Sally Jones

Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

(He wishes for the cloths of Heaven - W B Yeats)

Marriage Vows

Pastor Jeff Shaver:

And now Adam will you take Carol, here present, to be your wedded wife? Will you promise to love her and to cherish her, comfort her and honour her, and with her keep these bonds sacred and unbroken for as long as you both shall live?

Groom: I will.

Pastor Jeff Shaver:

And Carol, will you take Adam, here present, to be your wedded husband? Will you promise to love him and cherish him, comfort him and honour him, and with him keep these bonds sacred and unbroken for as long as you both shall live?

Bride: I will.

Groom to Bride:

I, Adam Bull, take you, Carol Diane Brookfield,
to be my wife,
knowing in my heart that you will be
my constant friend,
my faithful partner in life,
and my one true love.
On this special day,
I give to you in the presence of these witnesses
my sacred promise to stay by your side
as your husband
in sickness and in health,
in joy and in sorrow,
through the good times and the bad.

I further promise to love you without reservation,
honour and respect you,
provide for your needs as best I can,
protect you from harm,
comfort you in times of distress,
grow with you in mind and spirit,
always be open and honest with you,
and cherish you for as long as we both shall live.

Bride to Groom:

I, Carol Diane Brookfield, take you, Adam Bull,
to be my husband,
knowing in my heart that you will be
my constant friend,
my faithful partner in life,
and my one true love.

On this special day,
I give to you in the presence of these witnesses
my sacred promise to stay by your side
as your wife
in sickness and in health,
in joy and in sorrow,
through the good times and the bad.

I further promise to love you without reservation,
comfort you in times of distress,
encourage you to achieve all of your goals,
laugh with you and cry with you,
grow with you in mind and spirit,
always be open and honest with you,
and cherish you for as long as we both shall live.

Ring exchange

Pastor Jeff Shaver:

The rings please.
The wedding band, the unbroken circle, the emblem of eternity; and the gold the emblem of that which is least tarnish and most enduring are to show how lasting and imperishable is the faith now mutually pledged between Adam and Carol. With the giving and receiving of these rings you do each the other wed, and these marriage vows you do here and now forever seal.

Adam, as you place the ring on Carol's finger repeat after me: "I give you this ring to wear as an emblem of my never ending love for you."

Carol, as you place the ring on Adam's finger repeat after me: "I give you this ring to wear as an emblem of my never ending love for you."

Blessing

Now you will feel no rain,
For each of you will be shelter to the other.
Now you will feel no cold,
For each of you will be warmth to the other.
Now there is no more loneliness for you,
For each of you will be companion to the other.
Now you are two bodies,
But there is only one life before you.
Go now to your dwelling place,
To enter into the days of your togetherness.
And may your days be good and long upon the earth.

Song - Sung by Rhiannon Jones

Bridge over Troubled Water

When you're weary - feelin' small,
When tears are in your eyes,
I'll dry them all - I'm on your side.
Oh, when times get rough
and friends just can't be found,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down,
Like a bridge over troubled water,
I will lay me down.

When you're down and out, when you're on the street,
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you,
I'll take your part.
Oh, when darkness comes
And pain is all around,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down,
Like a bridge over troubled water,
I will lay me down.

Sail on Silver girl, sail on by.
Your time has come to shine,
All your dreams are on their way,
See how they shine.
Oh, if you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind,
Like a bridge over troubled water,
I will ease your mind.
