It wasn't just an ordinary day, it was mummy and daddy's wedding day! Mummy and daddy decided to go back to our homeland to get married, well just down the road, at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Not surprising seeing as it is so warm and sunny there, unlike here, unless of course you don't move too far away from the duvet and don't venture outside. Ah the sun, the magic, the annoying tunes. Here's mummy's version of events... (P.S. this was before P.J!, only just coz I arrived during the honeymoon. Take a look at Very Long Walkies - Holidays for mummy and daddy's honeymoon.)
Once Upon a Time...
...a boy called Adam asked a girl called Carol to marry him and after many months the day of the wedding had finally arrived.
Here we are staying at the Polynesian Hotel in Disney Florida and it was our wedding day. It was lovely and warm outside but there were a few worrying grey rain clouds in the sky. Ah well a good hearty breakfast was waiting.

We shared our breakfast with Mickey Mouse, Chip & Dale and Goofy! The nerves were starting to set in, well for one of us in any case, so I phoned my friend Jane. back in the UK for some re-assuring advice while my hubby-to-be decided it was time to go to Disney Quest to while away the time. After hearing some words of wisdom from Jane I set off to my parent's hotel room where I'd arranged to get ready with a little help from a Disney hairdresser and make-up artist.
One hour later complete with make-up, hair do and posh frock... Wow is that me! Can't be! Must be, the limo's here! You shall go to the ball... er sorry... Disney Wedding Chapel.
Meanwhile back at the hotel room... Here's the bit I didn't see - the groom looking worried!
The Bridesmaids getting ready.
Outside the Wedding Chapel.
When I arrived with my mum and dad we were taken to the Bride's vestibule to wait. The rest of the family started arriving but my mum insisted on a few traditions and Adam wasn't allowed to see me before the ceremony. The flowers arrived while we were waiting and they were beautiful. Finally, the moment for our wedding arrived.
Everyone was waiting in the Chapel except for my Dad, my two bridesmaids (Rhiannon and Faye, Adam's nieces) and of course me. DING, DING, DING, DING. The bell tolled 4pm, the doors opened and I walked down the aisle alongside my dad with my bridesmaids walking in front of me feeling just like a Princess. My hubby to be had designed the service and it was beautiful. We had a reading from my Sister-in-law, Sally, we read out our own vows to each other and then Rhiannon sang 'Bridge over Troubled Water' for us.
After the ceremony it was time for the photographs. The group picture includes my mum and dad (June and Ken Brookfield), Adam's mum and dad (Margery and Frank Bull), Adam's sister and her Family (Sally, Ralph, Rhiannon and Faye Jones). We also had some photo's taken outside. The weather was perfect and there we were stood in an archway with the blue lagoon behind us and Cinderella's castle in the background. It was just a perfect fairytale wedding.
Then it was off in the limo to the Grand Floridian Hotel for our champagne and cake cutting reception.
Disney provided us with a wedding cake with our choice of sponge and filling. We chose chocolate sponge and a strawberry mousse filling. It was incredible and is still the best cake I have ever eaten in my life.
The surprise guest at our reception (well surprise to our family!) was MICKEY MOUSE. Who else at a Disney Wedding. He kissed and danced with all our female guests!
Sadly it came to an end all too quickly and we set off back to our hotel room.
Back at the hotel we opened our cards and pressies. Sally had knitted us a bride and groom. Can you see any resemblence? Then we had a few moments by ourselves (to talk, honest!) to reflect on the day before heading off to our Polynesian Luau. On the way to the Luau I realised that I had lost my garter. It was very special to me as my new mum-in-law had made it for me and the lace was beautiful. I ran through ther hotel grounds feeling just like Cinderella when she lost her shoe only this time I found what I was looking for as it was back in our hotel room. Happily, I headed for the Polynesian Luau to meet our guests. As we didn't have many guests of our own with us we had decided to borrow a few from Disney and about two hundred of us were fed and entertained. I even got carried away on the stage by a hunky polynesian but I only had eyes for my new hubby...
My wedding day was the best day of my life and just perfect...
Our honeymoon was wonderful but all too soon our fairytale ended or so I thought. Back home my mum had been busy and gave us a wonderful wedding cake that she had made so we got to send cake to our family and friends who hadn't been able to join us on the day.
We had also arranged to see some friends on our return to show off my dress and the photographs. We were set up! My good friends Jane and Martin had arranged a surprise for us. They had arranged for John, Sarah, Lee and Nadine to turn up too and Adam and I were treated to a meal out. It was a wonderful surprise.
